Objectives

To support Indonesian efforts to have a modern and democratic national legislature and to strengthen the research, analysis and legislative drafting capability of the National House of Representatives (DPR).

Program Focus

NLSP assists the DPR to assume greater responsibility for law-making, deliberation of the annual State Budget, and government oversight in a democratic Indonesia.  Program activities include:

  • • Support the DPR Secretariat General in developing its Strategic Plan and a transcription system and management of the DPR session meeting.
  • Professionalize the DPR Secretariat staff through structured on the-job-training programs to improve the analytic capability of staff in the Bureaus for State Budget Analysis/Implementation and Legislative Drafting.
  • Introduce the Regulatory Impact Analysis (RIA) methodology that weighs the necessity and benefits of a proposed regulation against the negative impacts.
  • Technical assistance to the Budget Committee in increasing its analytical capability to deliberate the annual state budget and provide executive budgetary oversight.
