Art for Recovery is a USAID initiative to contribute to the psycho/social recovery of communities and rebuild their hope for the future. Child psychologists promote creative projects involving art and music as one way to help children move beyond personal tragedies and rebuild social networks.

The theme of the art work is The Future. The Art for Recovery Project provided art supplies and gathered children from tsunami affected villages for drawing sessions. Children created colorful and positive images -- their versions of the future of post-tsunami Aceh. Judges from USAID, Conoco-Phillips, a Global Development Alliance partner, and Development Alternatives Inc., through USAID’s Community Based Recovery Initiative awarded prizes for the best drawings at a ceremony held in the community center in Gurah village.
