USAID/Indonesia
The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) discuss their plans with a USAID employee.
There are many stakeholders involved in planning the Ring Road around Aceh. There are the shops, businesses, markets, and homes to consider, as well as the environmental assessments, economic impact, and potential feeder roads that need to be built. And almost everyone has something to say about it.
These are intense discussions that require an even head, coordination, patience, and planning. The coordination rises from the very local level to the Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Agency (BRR). Only until such planning is completed and agreements made that construction can begin.
United States Agency for International Development (USAID) representatives assist in the facilitation of these discussions to ensure that the appropriate stakeholders are present, important topics covered, and questions asked. The Ring Road around Aceh is such a project that needs this kind of close attention and cooperation that USAID can provide. With a bit of guidance, it will have great impact.
