USAID has been partnering with Indonesia on development issues for more than five decades. Indonesia has made tremendous strides towards a brighter and more prosperous future for all of its people. The last decade has seen the pace of progress accelerate. Our contributions have helped. While much remains to be done, we recognize that Indonesia has changed significantly. Our engagement needs to better reflect that welcome reality.
Indonesia and the United States share many values and key strategic interests. We are both focused on overcoming remaining constraints to broad based and participatory growth. And increasingly, we are working together on complex issues of global significance.
We are currently developing a new strategy which we hope will capture some of the exciting new opportunities that we both want to address. To make it happen we will continue to rely on the support of a variety of talented and dedicated colleagues.
