RESPECT
Objectives
To protect and promote pluralism, freedom of religion and the rights of women and minorities.
Program Focus
RESPECT works with communities to identify pluralism-related priorities and concerns that are then raised at the district government level. The Program links communities with civil society advocacy groups and provides grants for advocacy campaigns.
RESPECT also plans to work with the Ministry of Law and Human Rights to support their efforts to improve interpretation and implementation of key national laws and regulations that promote pluralism, freedom of religion and the rights of women and minorities.
The Program works in nine communities within the provinces of Banten, West Java and Central Java.
Implementing Partners
RESPECT is implemented by a consortium of two international NGOs (World Learning and Christian Children’s Fund) and two Indonesian organizations (LabSosio of the University of Indonesia and the National Commission on Human Rights). In addition, RESPECT is governed by an Advisory Board comprised of Indonesian leaders and thinkers on pluralism.
