20,000 bottles of Air RahMat have been distributed and trainings of how to use it have been conducted in Bantul and Klaten.
USAID is assisting Indonesian authorities to ensure that adequate water supply and sanitations systems are restored. In the first three days following the earthquake, USAID’s Environmental Services Program worked together with UNICEF to review the damage to three water utilities and the sewage system in the earthquake affected areas. Currently, only 5 out of 13 district level water supply systems are functioning, and the water quality is extremely poor.
Through relief efforts, USAID and UNICEF are supplying hospitals and affected communities with 20,000 bottles of water treatment product, Air RahMat. One bottle covers the water purification needs for a family of five for one month. An additional 20,000 bottles are available for distribution to NGOs.
