PROJECT FOCUS

The project objective is to improve the performance and leadership skills of Indonesian professionals, which, in turn, will help to promote development in Indonesia.  PRESTASI will strengthen and expand the base of skilled, high-performing professionals and institutions in Indonesia’s public sector and private sector. The project will provide hundreds of Indonesians the opportunity to earn advanced degrees in the United States and here in Indonesia.

 

BACKGROUND

PRESTASI will continue to support the tradition of participant training and human capacity development by providing opportunities for advanced academic degrees in the U.S. and Indonesia. The program will build on the successes of its predecessor, which provided 162 participants short term opportunities and 159 participants longer term opportunities for Masters and PhD studies in programs in the U.S., Indonesia, and third countries. PRESTASI is open to all Indonesians who meet the requirements listed below.

TOTAL PROJECT SIZE

PRESTASI Phase One is a one-year $5 million program (2011-2012) that the Indonesian International Education Foundation (IIEF) is implementing.

 

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

PRESTASI offers opportunities in Education, Health, Environment, Economics, and Democracy and Governance.

SELECTION CRITERIA

The selection process is very competitive.  Candidates must show:

  • Leadership abilities
  • Excellence in a  technical field
  • Relevance to the achievement of USAID/Indonesia and GOI development goals
  • Technical qualifications for specific trainings

REQUIREMENTS

  • Indonesian Citizen
  • Not  an employee of USAID employee/ USAID contractors
  • Available for a minimum of five years of employment prior to retirement upon completion of study
  • Evidence of English ability/ TOEFL/IELTS equivalent to TOEFL 450
